Surfing played a huge role in my life for many years. A few years back, I sustained a serious knee injury and I haven't consistently gotten back on a board since. Still, I catch myself mentally drifting back to that sense of tranquility when there are few other surfers in the water and you feel in tune with the ocean.

It's remarkable how surfing bridges the gap between an inherent connection to our planet and intense feelings of exploring other worlds. The goal of this piece is to capture both the serenity and sense of adventure of that experience.

I originally took the photo during a winter storm in March of 2018 in Long Beach, NY.
