#Nooks

A generative series digitizing the comforting effects of reading, the architecture of our personal reading spaces, and the dual role of the reader as pleasure-seeker and decoder.

The title of each *Nook* is its source title converted to a hexadecimal string. Reverse this conversion to reveal the source text of the generation.

The following attributes of each *Nook* are derived from the source text:

· The colors you see (title of book converted to hex)

· The size of the colorblocks (length of book)

· The amount of distortion on each colorblock (length of book)

· The amount each colorblock is capable of moving and its starting position (length of book)

· The duration of the loop (length of title in plaintext)

Like reading, *Nooks* invites the viewer to engage with the animations effortlessly, for pleasure, as the shapes traverse the space on generative paths, or didactically, as they consider the value of the translated text.
