Moon Ape Lab's story began with a collection of 8,000 Genesis Moon Apes, a visual masterpiece brought to life by the talented World of Warcraft illustrators, Stas Svetlov and Vlad Svetlov. This remarkable collection marked the start of an adventure that would take the NFT world by storm
In January 2022, the founding team launched the Moon Ape Lab Genesis Collection. The roadmap laid out ambitious plans, including the introduction of a Play-to-Earn (P2E) game. As the first leg of Moon Ape Lab's journey unfolded, it gave birth to four additional NFT collections: Loot Bags, Pets, Cola, and Mutants, each adding unique dynamics and value to the Moon Ape ecosystem
The original roadmap also promised raffles, leaderboards, charity donations, and a liquidity pool. But as we all know, the crypto space can be unpredictable - in April 2022, a twist of fate saw some of the original team members exit the project, taking the majority of the funds with them. This unexpected turn could have spelled the end, but the Moon Ape Lab community had a different plan in mind
In the face of adversity, a group of dedicated holders, armed with a wealth of web3 and business experience, united behind the scenes. They presented a proposal to rescue the project and keep the Moon Ape dream alive. After six weeks of intense negotiations, all project assets, along with a remaining balance of 57 ETH, were transferred to the newly elected team
The transition came with a fresh roadmap, designed to honour the promises made to holders while adapting to the evolving landscape. With a slim budget to work with, the new team set out to rebuild and redefine Moon Ape Lab's future
One of the defining moments was when the incumbent team, passionate about the project's potential, agreed to work on deferred salaries, with some team members going full-time. This collective dedication reflected the unwavering belief in the project and its community
The path has been marked by challenges, but it has also been illuminated by the unwavering spirit of the Moon Ape Lab community. We've come together to ensure that Moon Ape Lab not only survives but thrives. Today, we stand on the precipice of a new era in NFTs, as we prepare to unleash our 3D avatars and venture into the Metaverse
