Threading the Lume

Inspired by dozens of onchain generative art projects, Lume stands on the shoulders of giants and takes inspiration from them. While at the same time pushing the boundaries of what they pioneered even further. In generative art the seed is what generates the art . Most projects utilize only a single transaction hash, Lume is made up of 3 things: 1) txHash. 2) blockType. 3. gasUsed

txHash

One of the giants that has inspired hundreds of onchain projects is undoubtedly Snowfro and the prolific ArtBlocks platform. Lume actually utilizes the ArtBlocks Random Class to create several deterministic functions from a transaction hash. This helps set the foundational rules for each piece of art generated.

blockType

On the HyperEVM there are two different block sizes. Big and Small. If a users wallet is set to process big block transactions, the art generated in the process reflects that. Big blocks are notably defined by their large shapes and layered complexity. At the time of mint a simple call is made to 'eth_usingBigBlocks' on the rpc to determine which block type the user's account is set to.

gasUsed

Of the 3 components to make the seed and generate the art, the gasUsed variable is probably the most obscure. Mainly because gas prices on the HyperEVM are pretty stable in comparison to gas prices on Ethereum. However tweaking gas settings, if successful, influences the density of the shapes and how compacted they are.
