The series of paintings “Queste Libere Farfalle” (These Free Butterflies) was inspired by the song of Alfred Schnittke of the same name. And also the feeling familiar to everyone – butterflies in the stomach.

Recently, I've been thinking about this feeling a lot. And I've noticed that people's attitudes to it are split down the middle. One side considers this feeling to be a sure sign of falling in love.

Another one says that this way our body warns us of the troubles that the object of our sympathy will get us in. So it tells us that this person is not suitable for us. Because true love is about calmness and confidence.

From my experience, any relationship is always about work, compromises, ups and downs. And there’s a place for butterflies and tranquility as well.

Therefore, this series of paintings is an attempt to convey that something, so beautiful and indefinite, dulling and sharpening all the senses at the same time. It makes us so vulnerable but so beautiful.
