Over the spring and summer of 2022 I will be exploring what happens to a space when an unexpected, or incongruous object is placed within it. In this case, a simple yellow chair.
I chose yellow for several reasons. In Newfoundland, where I am from, yellow is a traditional color to paint fishing dories and I wanted that connection to place. In addition, the color yellow is associated with recall and memories, and I wanted the viewer to feel some sort of emotional or spiritual connection to the space. There is, in my opinion, now stronger anchor than memory.
I chose the simple kitchen chair for its association with warmth, fellowship, togetherness and comfort.
This collection will be dropped in a staggered approach, with new work monthly.
Total 1/1's available will end at 20.
