The concept of "after a work" refers to a unique artwork that is inspired by or copied from another artist to whom I pay tribute and study. There are many examples in art history of this concept, with some of the most well-known being Vincent Van Gogh's "after Millet" works, where he reproduced iconic pieces by Jean-François Millet using a different color palette or altering shapes while maintaining the narrative of the original piece. Similarly, I refer to this work as "after Furie," redrawing and reworking each of the traits and complete non-generative pieces (category: anthropomorphism) that make up this collection. I achieve this by studying the "line art" scenes from Boy’s Club, characterized by one-color line drawings typical of comic art. From these, I take small parts, redrawing the lines through pixel art, and bring my own vision to the narrative concept with an expressionist style. I blend saturated and washed colors, like Brett's own skin, and colors seen in early color cartoons. These colors also design most of the traits in the collection, which do not come from Boy’s Club but are pure creations of my own. These Bretts blend stylistic concepts and references to other artists who inspire me, such as Argentine artist Linniers (Macanudo), Bob Camp (Ren & Stimpy), Matt Groening (Life in Hell, Futurama, The Simpsons), Rubber Hose animation, and some concepts from crypto art, such as Cryptopunks (aliens, zombies). My ideas, an Adobe RGB 1966 color palette, and image texture (the uniform monochromatic noise intended to simulate 8mm film grain, and a psychedelic sprinkle of color pixels that alternate and overlap to create abstract generative patterns, reinterpreting action painting but with pixels) compose a collection of 4,114 hilarious Bretts with expressionist characteristics, meticulously curated. To view them in detail, I recommend downloading the original “.png” image hosted on IPFS with a size of 560 × 439px, which I decided not to scale in order to maintain its essence and to allow those who wish to enlarge the true image and see how each piece was conceived in its original form, pixel by pixel, with the same style, color, and size as created on my computer.
Peace, love, and psychedelic pixels,
Sincerely, Leprochant🐉 ㊙
