 GR/HGR

Nostalgia? Time-travel? Dithers? Glitches? Named after the Applesoft BASIC graphic commands GR and HGR.

These works were created using an Apple II plus emulator -- the machine I first created graphic images, back in the 1980s. They highlight that machine's idiosyncratic graphics, which could introduce new colors or do sub-pixel positioning shifts. The works are a nostalgic look back to an earlier era of creative computing. And they ask, will creative works made with contemporary technologies -- such as AI, NFTs and quantum computing -- look at technologically dated to future eyes? And does creative computing always suggest a form of time travel, whether a nostalgia for an earlier ear, or a contemplation for when today's technology becomes commonplace or obsolete?
