Spacebrat's "Gleam" is a piece from her previous solo exhibition in New York titled Pipe Dream, investigating hyper realistic and fantastical airbrush paintings. This exhibition introduced works establishing black futurism and liberation through playful themes such as carnival parades and landscape scenes. "Gleam" is an interpretation of a prosperous woman holding good health and wisdom. The projection of black joy and heroism is presented by a tightly composed smiling face, with a shadowed spider airbrushed to perfection. The outcome is a painting that evokes the feeling of beauty and fantasy, capturing a portrait with the emotion and spiritual energy of a spider.
