It also highlights food and survival. Cattle symbols show mating times and provide guidance on optimal planting times, while the man represents the harvest. The water indicates the time of potential floods, and all the remaining symbols serve their purpose of conveying important seasonal messages.


Stephen D. Manning was the first to understand that the symbols on the Zodiac represent common seasonal breeders of the Fertile Crescent, like horses, lizards, sheep, goats, and cattle.
