Assembly presents *Portrait Studio* by Daniel Gordon, a collection of portraits which span over a decade of his career, in which he photographs sculptures made with images collaged from Google image search. These assembled portraits do not depict a single person as much as they portray a collective reflection of our virtual selves. The characters blur the distinction between our lived, physical experiences and our digital, cerebral ones. As such, they articulate a new visual repertoire, one which not only celebrates the internet and appropriation, but also works to push our perception of truth to its maximum—a realm where our distinction between virtual and physical becomes full of new possibilities. As part of the blockchain, these NFT versions of Gordon’s portraits have now come full circle, navigating the shift from the beginnings of the internet to its Web 3.0 iteration.
