"CONSTRUCT/DESTRUCT" is a diptych created for The Digital Canvas, a group show curated by VerticalCrypto Art. The work was exhibited at The NFT Gallery in London and New York, from January 26th to February 9th, 2023.
The exhibition explored the evolving landscape of contemporary art through the lens of digital mediums as canvases.
The artwork was creating using a live audio input and a node-based visual programming environment called Vuo. The visuals are generated in real-time, using the frequency data driving the animation. The sound design was designed by DJ Kero from the legendary record label Detroit Underground.

Joëlle is a London-based artist and designer working in the realm of live visuals and performance where she explores the relationship between sound and form. Her focus is audiovisual synchronicity, shaping the invisible by giving sound a certain physicality. She’s interested in visually communicating the feelings she has when she listens to music, and exploring the connection between what she hears, feels and sees. Using frequencies and minimal structures, she creates compositions that are largely sculpted by sound.
She’s the visual artist for electronic musician and DJ Richie Hawtin, touring with him and developing live visuals for his DJ sets.
Her work has been exhibited at Digital Impact at the Disseny Hub Barcelona, Proof of People (London & New York), CORE Festival (Brussels), Athens Digital Arts Festival, Sónar Hong Kong and Digital Decade (London) as well as various online and IRL exhibitions curated by Unit London, VerticalCrypto Art, Refraction Festival, and others. She is a resident visual artist at FOLD, London—an artist-led, community-driven nightclub and arts space with a predominantly queer techno community.
Joëlle has been invited to speak at various editions of OFFF Festival (Mexico City, Lithuania, Seville, Barcelona, Moscow, Vienna), Adobe Max (Online), Adobe: The Future of Creativity (London), TOCA ME (Munich) and Mouvo (Prague). Commissions and collaborations include MIRA Festival (Barcelona) alongside Andy Stott, Re-Textured Festival (London) and OFFF Barcelona with Joshua Davis.
