Oni Balogun (b.1993) is a visual artist born and based in Lagos, Nigeria. His style of work explores the use of abstract and semi-abstract forms enforced by his use of geometric shapes and lines. Influenced by his love for Pop Art, Oni employs his cubist style while examining Afro-culture and the Afrocentric experience.
"I am captivated by the passage of time, its unstoppable flow, and the significance found in seemingly insignificant moments. My artistic practice revolves around freezing these fragments of time, creating a sanctuary within my work. Solitude and beachscapes are my recurring subjects, as they provide the calm settings where I find solace and inspiration.
Through introspective exploration, I strive to reconnect with both past and future moments. Themes of individuality, leisure, and social commentary permeate my art, offering a fresh perspective on the bustling chaos of Lagos, my home. By capturing these moments and exploring their inherent beauty, I aim to invite viewers to pause, contemplate, and appreciate the transient nature of life.
"My ultimate goal is to create an immersive experience that allows for introspection and reflection. Within this space, I invite viewers to delve into the essence of time, embracing the fragments that shape our existence. Through my art, I seek to evoke a sense of tranquility and invite others to discover the significance in the simplicity of life's fleeting moments."
