In the waning days of October 2023, we cast our creation into the digital winds: a collection of NFTs called deRuggers, launched on Ethereum with a heart full of hope. Free, we proclaimed - up to five per wallet, a gift to the dreamers who believed in us. Beyond that, a small price was asked, a quiet nod to those hungry for more. But the dream faltered. A botnet, cold and insatiable, swept through our collection, snatching tokens with soulless precision. Our chance for glory was smothered before it could breathe. deRuggers never found its wings, though it gained a bitter kind of fame in the hands of scammers, who stole our metadata and art, spinning fraudulent shadows across countless blockchains. Even yesterday, with OpenSea’s steadfast support, we banished two such ghosts.
The world of NFTs, too, began to fade. From the tail end of 2023 through the dawn of 2025, the once-vibrant market grew quiet, its pulse slowing to a whisper. Many thought it dead, a relic of a fleeting digital age. But then, in 2025, OpenSea stirred the embers. With a spark of innovation and a renewed fervor, they breathed life back into the NFT realm, and the world took notice. We, too, felt the call. The Base blockchain, with its near-weightless gas fees and the hum of OpenSea’s revitalized community, became our new canvas. It was, as they say, an inevitable choice.
We reimagined deRuggers with care, weaving animation into the backgrounds until they danced with life. A new layer, christened GM, emerged - a delicate curl of steam rising from a morning cup of coffee, or tea, or whatever potion kindles the spirit at dawn. We dare to dream that this reborn collection will not merely linger in wallets but thrive in the hearts of a community reawakened, carried on the wings of OpenSea’s quiet revolution.
