LOS ANGELES - Following the devastating LA wildfires, teens Aliyah Redding and Kyle Godwin turned adversity into action after watching their communities burn, partnering with Another Awesome Day (AAD), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on teen suicide awareness and prevention, to provide mental health resources and support to affected communities. AAD has long recognized how environmental disasters can trigger mental health crises in youth.
AAD and the teens launched “Teens4LA”, quickly raising over $20,000 on the Pledge platform, which provided flexibility for donors, accepting donations in 130 different cryptocurrencies, enabling instant global support. Building on this momentum, the teens have bridged social impact with blockchain innovation, mobilizing major crypto companies and NFT communities to stand with them. This groundbreaking collaboration culminates in "ART4LA," a NFT art collection benefitting the Teens4LA fundraiser.
The collection features derivative artwork from over 20 iconic NFT collections, including CryptoPunks, BAYC, Lazy Lions, Goblintown, Deadfellaz, Chimpers, Color Coated Artifacts, Punk Angels, 0N1Force, and Pudgy Penguins. Notable artists including Adamtastic, Process Grey, Psych, Timpers, JohntheCraftsman, Peekcell, Pixlit, and IMCMPLX to name a few—have contributed exclusive pieces reimagining their signature styles through the lens of youth resilience.
Aliyah’s story has gained significant media attention, and has featured on KEYT News, LA Check In, Santa Barbara Independent, local radio stations, as well as the newsletter and social media channels of Dunn School, where Aliyah is a senior student leader. His approach is a powerful example of how Web3 tools can enable rapid youth mobilization and student-led social impact.
This initiative goes beyond traditional disaster relief by combining immediate aid with long-term mental health support, creating a sustainable model for community resilience.
