A collection of 7 self-portraits by Alexxa Walker | Total of 49 photographs (7 for each sin) to be collected.

In this series, I reimagine the 7 deadly sins by creating 7 portraits that reflect my perceptions of self, while celebrating my culture, body and sexuality as a woman from the diaspora. The 7 deadly sins - pride, wrath, gluttony, sloth, lust, greed and envy - are believed to be the 7 vices that are at the heart of all immoral behavior.

The idea stems from the ongoing situation with Covid-19, where quarantine has forced the majority of the world to go under lockdown, with many people having to spend time alone and confront the deeper, darker parts of themselves.

This is also a moment where a global uprising for racial justice and representation is taking place. I grew up without being able to see women of color celebrated for their beauty, dynamism, and complexity. These photos are a tribute to all of the dark women that never saw their skin as enough.
