Ledger announces Clear Signing initiative to enhance web3 wallet security
Ledger wallet CTO Charles Guillemet presented a rundown of the company’s exciting next steps to eliminate a web3 wallet security risk known as “blind signing.” The update debuted as a talk on the EthCC stage in Brussels, but Guillemet later tweeted a summary.
Blind signing is like signing a blank check, Guillemet explained. It started because NFT and decentralized finance (DeFi) transactions have become too complex for smart wallet verification systems to handle.
To combat this norm, Ledger is launching a suite of Clear Signing tools, libraries and application programing interfaces (APIs). Standards for each will be published on GitHub, a knowledge-sharing platform for developers, to help encourage widespread knowledge and use.
