"Modular Manhua" reconstructs the language of manhua—a Chinese tradition of illustrated storytelling—through the fractured lens of German Bauhaus and Cubist deconstruction. In Tianming’s latest series, faces are reduced to modular shapes, their identities shifting through intersecting planes of color, shadow, and form. Each of the 65 unique one-of-one NFTs breaks portraiture into its most essential components, where the act of seeing becomes a process of assembly and disassembly. Created using pastel and oil-based ink transfers on paper, these works were submitted to Orangehare.io and adapted as digital collectibles through in-house techniques.
