i began this collection in 2018. i was spending more and more time (and money) on webcamming chat rooms. i was kind of addicted, so in order to get a handle on this activity i decided to started to firstly take screen images of some of the cammers (“Broadcasters”) - always with the performers identities hidden and never naked; I was only interested in portraiture. in part by the pandemic, this kind of sex work exploded because anyone with a webcam and even a smartphone - and proof of age and identity - could easily set up shop. sex camming is a multi-billion dollar industry that is highly unregulated. later, when i got further involved in this project, i became more interested in the Broadcasters’ rooms that were absent of the cammer, because i felt that these images were actually more revealing of who these individuals were.
