Salt Lake City artist Adam Hoffman’s creations are the embodiment of the organically occurring phenomenon of fractals. Ever-splitting bodies of water, branching trees, and the complex nervous system of the human body are just a few examples of fractals hiding in plain sight. Hoffman follows the same repetitive system to create awe inspiring fractal digital art. Fractals are formed when a self-similar pattern is infinitely repeated.

Growing up in Michigan, Adam Hoffman was unknowingly exposed to fractals in nature throughout his life. The unique patterns of snowflakes and waterways could have been preparing him for this artform all along. These particular influences carried over when Adam relocated to northern Utah. Hoffman’s work does not start out with a determined outcome in mind. He thrives on the exploration and infinite possibilities that come with fractal art. Layering multiple fractals is what really gives the images asymmetrical depth. Once colors are added they achieve a new, hypnotic dimension in which viewers could easily become entranced. Although fractals derived from mathematic equations are definitively uniform, naturally occurring fractals are rarely symmetrical.

Hoffman’s work can be seen in a number of juried art festivals throughout the country. Over the years Adam has earned several honors such as Best in Digital Art, Mayor’s Award, and 1st & 2nd Place in Digital Art at various festivals.
