Captured at Mt Sedgwick near Grants, NM. My plans to catch the sunrise earlier in the day were crushed due to thick clouds, low light, and blowing rain. Improvising, I drove up a mountain road. When I rounded a corner, I could see the clouds beginning to break apart. I saw this view of the clouds hugging the mountains in the distance and dissipating over my head. Symbolic, I thought, of my year: dark at first but eventually better days, optimistic days, days spent in full sunshine.
