The Waxing Crescent phase occurs between the new Moon and first quarter phase. This image of the moon 13.7%

Fun fact- a waxing crescent moon has nothing to do with Earth’s shadow on the moon. There is a shadow on a crescent moon, but it’s the moon’s own shadow.

Such a moon lies not opposite the sun, but, on the contrary, on nearly the same line of sight to the sun, as seen from Earth.

There is deeper meaning behind this phase, often referred to as the rebuilding phase when the moon has re-emerged with new energy.
