Meditation on waves is a generative artwork weaving together images and sound collected exclusively at 56 degrees of latitude south to create unique waves of sound and light.

Each generated wave is unique, each generated soundscape is 1mn56, editions are limited to 56 mints, each is priced at 0.056 ETH.

On board a scientific sailboat for 24 days, artist Antoine Bertin captured the unique oscillations of water, sound and light in one of the most remote part of the world, close to Antartica.

Inspiration came from the invisible beings that live in these particular waves. Although hidden to the naked eye, phytoplankton produces 60% of the oxygen of our planet. The work is an invitation to appreciate the ways in which our existence is connected to these waves.

Everyday at dawn, noon, dusk and night, the artist captured one image and one sound at the surface of the ocean.

The work is an organic combination of 24 of these images and sounds (4 dawns, 4 noons, 4 dusks, 4 nights) resulting in 1296 unique meditations.

Each of these generated meditations brings together lights, sounds and weather from different moments and locations in one imagined wave. Each wave is made of natural elements. Yet none of these waves of sound and light exist in nature.

The work was conceived to be experienced in the location of your choice, preferably with headphones, as an opportunity to take a breath and connect with the waves where the oxygen you are breathing was initially produced, using sunlight.
