This piece is a reinterpretation of an oil painting I made years ago, inspired by the iconic Josephine Baker. My intention with this piece is to challenge the hypersexualization of black women and the male gaze that often objectifies them, while also reclaiming our femininity and agency.

As you engage with this artwork, I invite you to consider how society often forces black women to navigate a world that perceives them through the lens of stereotypes and prejudice. How might these assumptions and biases affect our understanding of black femininity, and how can we challenge these ideas to create a more nuanced and inclusive vision of womanhood?
