The WRLD music video was shot in Karma.wav's home studio with childhood best friend and visual architect RariEsthetics. The idea was to play around with the concept of Synesthesia - Experiencing one of your senses through another and through Polarity, the state of having two opposites or contradictory aspects.
As a self-reliant artist and WRLD builder, Karma.wav does the recording, mixing, mastering and engineering, while conducting interesting Web3 experiments, such as Songcamp and wavWRLD.
We experimented with the relationship between audio and visual, and what blurring the lines between them would result in aesthetically. At the intersection of Hi-Fi and Lo-Fi, we shot the WRLD video on a RED camera with the intention of destroying it in post. Dancing between sound and color, the WRLD video is about polarity and contrast - contrast of light & sound + polarity of perception.
The progression of the cinematography, specifically the lighting, represents the emotions felt and the story told while writing the song, about the longing of another & flashbacks of your time with them, wishing that they were your whole WRLD.
We wanted to tap into our childhood roots, creating without the pressure to make it seem like we knew what we were doing. Embracing the beauty that is experimentation and letting the music and cinematography take us in the right direction.
Ultimately, I think we created something far superior to anything we could’ve imagined and we present it here to you exclusively on glass.xyz.
