MA1 "Abstract Originals" Cube: Data is a mysterious artwork. Small rectangles materialise in unpredictable locations and then flip, building up vertical and horizontal patterns. The original generative art used in this piece is from MA1 “Abstract Originals” Micro Arts Group 1984. With this new video art, the enigmatic nature of data is revealed in 3D. Further artworks from the other Micro Arts Group series MA2, MA3 and MA4, plus various other collectable artefacts, will be released in other related series. Micro Arts was a public art group with an inclusive policy, and distributed computer art by data cassette and later national Prestel teletext (pre-internet). MA1 Cube: Data is in an Edition of 48, following in sequence from the first MA1 Cube Collection 1984 – 2021 which had an Edition of 84. Editions will decrease throughout the series. Micro Arts Group computer art and artefacts are now in the UK's Computer Art Archives (related to the famous Computer Art Society), there is a book about it, and the work was exhibited again in 2021.
