With my body half-dangling on the side of a very bumpy boat ride during my first whale watching tour, eagerly anticipating the emergence of the largest mammal to breach the surface for “the shot”. After 5 hours out in the cold with near-gale force winds, fortune did not favor our endeavor on this occasion. Consequently, I made the deliberate choice to redirect my attention towards a subject I had long aspired to photograph. This inclination was ignited by the works of numerous artists within the field - an interest that centered on the ocean itself, particularly its abstract manifestations.

Taken from the world’s largest canvas, the eternal dance of the oceanic elegance unfolds like a masterful work of art, where the boundless expanse of the ocean transforms into a slab of marble with hypnotic blends of cerulean and aquamarine blues. Frozen mid-cascade, each ripple and foam meticulously carved by nature’s hand, forming delicate whorls and curves, akin to the delicate veins within a marble slab. The play of light on the water's surface adds an ethereal depth, enhancing the illusion of a liquid work of art.
