The Rosette Nebula is a HII region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy.
The open cluster NGC 2244 is found within the nebula, which was discovered by John Flamesteed in 1690. The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light years from Earth and measure 130 light years in diameter.
The nebula is also referred to as the “skull” as it resembles a human skull in certain orientations.
This is my version of a Hubble Palette style image using a dual band narrowband filter. I wanted to create a colourful and striking image of something that’s not seen very often.

"Colours Of Space" is the culmination of over 70 hours of gathered data that has been calibrated, stacked and processed over several months. Lots of pre-planning, cold late nights capturing the night sky (and failed nights)and processing the data has been all worth it when I look back at this collection.
All these images are captured using my own telescope and dedicated astronomy camera from my back garden here in Scotland. All the data has been carefully processed and curated by myself.
*Collectors will gain early access to future collections and editions.
*Collectors will have access to a high-res version of their NFT purchased.
