The Orion Nebula (also known as Messier 42) is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way. It is situated south of Orion’s belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae in the night sky and is visible to the naked-eye.
The Orion Nebula is 1,344 light years from Earth. The M42 nebula is estimated to be 24 light-years across and have a mass 2,000 times of the sun.
This is my version of a HOO image of the Orion Nebula using a dual band narrowband filter. I managed to capture all the surrounding dust and made this the focus of the image by reducing the surrounding stars quite considerably. I also took some shorter exposures of the core and blended the two images so you can clearly see the Trapezium core.
Licence: Primary NFT holder is free to use in advertising, display privately and in groups, including virtual galleries, documentaries and essays by holder of the NFT, as long as creator is credited. Provides no rights to create commercial merchandise, commercial distribution, or derivative works. Copyright remains with creator.
"Colours Of Space" is the culmination of over 70 hours of gathered data that has been calibrated, stacked and processed over several months. Lots of pre-planning, cold late nights capturing the night sky (and failed nights)and processing the data has been all worth it when I look back at this collection.
All these images are captured using my own telescope and dedicated astronomy camera from my back garden here in Scotland. All the data has been carefully processed and curated by myself.
