Luminism is an endless generative artwork by Ben Heim taking inspiration from one of the earliest forays into light art: the Luminism painting movement. Luminist painters sought to render light in all its vibrance and power on canvas, taking naturalistic subjects, often skies, and painting them with concealed brush strokes to create glossy detailed works before the advent of impressionism. This generative artwork focuses on the colour palettes often used by these painters, vibrate browns, oranges, reds bordering on deep pink, and naturalistic highlights, combining them with generative algorithms to dictate form, motion and progression to produce a pure light artwork, abstracted from subject.

This collection contains fixed format video and still artefacts rendered from the full generative artwork. A maximum of 100 artefacts will be produced from each of my generative artworks. These may take the form of prints, NFTs, real-time versions, and site specific video renderings.
