According to Sigmund Freud, the human being is an individual in constant conflict, of libidinal drives and a kind of apparent self-control that pull strongly on each other. "Games of Appearances" represents this duality, both forces operating internally. The bizarre and the sublime are combined in the same body. Appearances therefore play an important role in constructing us as individuals in a society. Let us accept that we are unique, imperfect, cruel, but at the same time wonderful, eternal and mysterious beings. That is the true reason for our existence. The mask helps us to reveal or hide ourselves from others or from ourselves, that is what the game of appearances is all about.
