Akuaba Doll is a symbol of prosperity today. In earlier periods of the Akan people, this statuette was secured at the back of a barren woman in belief that she would conceive. And they did conceive according to the legend. Prior to this, a barren woman’s husband goes to see the priest of the village. The priest therefore commissions the doll to be made and gives it to the mother to represent the infant, known as the Akuaba and cares for it as if it were alive. The mother then has to eat certain foods and both herself and the husband will have to follow certain direction from the priest.

This is a kind of autosuggestion enforced on the mind. A mind of success in the form of thought energy is released into the atmosphere. Soon, the barren woman becomes pregnant and gives birth. The Akuaba doll was used by women to promote Productivity. The ringed neck is a sign of beauty and prosperity amongst the Akan People.

3D AFRICAN MASKS collection image

Most African masks that were taken from the continent are now in the homes of private collectors and museums. The descendants of these mask makers do not have the privilege of seeing what their ancestors carved. Even though the masks were aesthetically appealing, they were functional to the tribes that used them.

African masks represent ideas that are still relevant today. I am making the most rare and most expensive masks available to new collectors in 3D. 50% of Proceeds will be contributed in setting up an Innovation Hub, in Ghana. This Innovation Hub will be a place where young creatives who are the descendants of these mask makers will come to, to develop their ideas and bring them to fruition using technology. Creatives will receive training material to develop their talents and creative abilities.
