Paper-cutting Artist / Megumi Mochizuki
Born in 1978, she grew up in Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture. In 2002 her career as a paper-cutting artist began. Her work has been featured in magazines, CD covers and TV programs in Japan.In addition to her activities as artist, she studied in the department of education at Tokyo Gakugei University. From 2008 for four years she had worked as assistant of a Manga artist and was in charge of drawing Buddhist architecture, sculptures and the cityscape of Kyoto. She stated that experience as a Manga assistant helped to improve her drawing skills. In January 2013, she moved to Kyoto. In the traditional ambience of the city, she expands the range of her activities.
Works in which graphic backgrounds are fitted in the part cut out by paper-cutting.
