Sacagawea (May 1788 – December 20, 1812, or April 9, 1884) Sacajawea was a Lemhi Shoshone woman, who at the age of 16 helped guide the Lewis and Clark Expedition. She also served as an interpreter for both language and culture with the Native American population. Sacajawea traveled thousands of miles with the Lewis and Clark, from North Dakota to the Pacific Ocean. And her support on the expeditions helped show that they had a peaceful intent.
