“Mined”, 2022 By Freedom Baird

This tetraptych offers an object with perceived value in four modes: as a physical heirloom diamond likely mined in South Africa in the mid-1900s accompanied by an official document certifying its value; as a painted representation of the diamond over Jamaica Pond which is part of Boston’s Emerald Necklace of Olmstead designed parks; as a unique NFT of the diamond painting; and as a digital representation of the diamond geopositioned over Jamaica Pond. Proceeds from the sale of the tetraptych will be donated to a Boston-area non-profit that lost money in the 2022 crypto market crash.
