The only photograph in the digital collection, “I AM THAT I AM” an image representing the personification of Being that was very much influenced by my reading of Eckhart Tolle. It is quiet, it is stillness, it is peace. “I AM THAT I AM” isn’t reactive, responsive, defensive or strategic. “I AM THAT I AM” is the lantern consciousness of Spirit, with children as often its truest emissaries. “I AM THAT I AM” rejects nothing, it judges nothing, it just accepts all that is. “I AM THAT I AM” is the timelessness that we can have when we understand that we do not need permission to receive admission, enlightenment, or salvation. We already encompass all of those things in our existence. It’s a really difficult headspace or heartspace to get to when you’re existing within any of the other mindsets in this collection. We only get here when we release everything else. Although I personally believe in this, it is difficult to fully embrace this way of being, and it becomes ever the more harder as we move out of childhood and become tethered to the complicated way things work in this reality. Children are much more likely to believe in their innate goodness and to have faith in themselves and others and everything, and I don’t think it’s so much “innocence” which suggests knowing nothing, as it is that they still know who and what they are.

Phases - Diana Sinclair collection image

Phases explores Diana Sinclair’s poignant relationship with time— the passage of it, the constant grief, and the end of life not equating to the end of time. “Where will I be if I’m not here?” is a question that often kept her up at night for hours which went on for years.

It was only as Diana matured and cultivated her life and mind with new experiences and thoughts, that she was able to let go of that near obsession. Now though, whenever she enters a quiet phase of life, she finds herself returning to those early questions and obsessions with grief, loss, and time. But at present, instead of being tormented about loss of life, she’s been troubled with feeling grief over the loss of unblemished memory of moments, eras, and phases of life.

Sinclair’s vision is to communicate the ever changing, personal, and complex idea of time and memories through the dynamic lens of digital art.
