One Summer Day is an innovative 100% fully onchain real-time generative art piece by creative technologist dailofrog that vividly simulates the tranquility of a moving grass field. The entire project is completely stored on Base and procedurally generated in real-time.

Utilizing SSTORE2 method via EthFS, this project ensures forever permanence by embedding the entire generative HTML simulation along with the threejs library and animated webp thumbnail directly onchain. This project exemplifies the commitment of us purists to push the boundaries of onchain art, ensuring its longevity and integrity without relying on unreliable/impermanent third-party storage solutions (i.e. IPFS, Arweave, etc).

The rendering of the real-time grass in "One Summer Day" is achieved using three.js, a powerful 3D rendering library that is fully embedded onchain.

The grass is implemented as instanced geometry buffers, allowing for efficient rendering of vast amounts of grass blades. To simulate the natural motion of grass swaying in the breeze, the vertex shader employs multiple layers of sine waves. The fragment shader incorporates custom lighting techniques to reflect the sun’s glow as it slides across the field. Finally, post-process shaders, including vignette and godray lighting effects, are applied to create a more atmospheric experience, capturing the essence of a calm summer day.

Onchain storage is provided by EthFS (thank you Frolic) on Base.
