A dreamy photoshoot on location in Tryon, North Carolina in the house Nina Simone was born in. The humble roots of the celebrated, Black Musician and Singer inspired the models and allowed me to set the space with my custom textiles, costumes, wigs and a certain je ne sais quois. These photos capture a place and time stewed in the family, the future, the whispers of history, the women who watch, the sons we pray and demand be kept alive and those who provide more bountiful bridges to friendship.
