This is not generative art but rather a digital objet trouvé (found art). Researched, discovered and filmed in the expanse of Google Earth's 3D-space, placed on his virtual black turntable by artist Josh von Staudach.
The pylon is questioning the reliance on our power grid. The wires are not connected anymore but instead covered with branches and gravel, picked up from its surroundings. Our dependency on energy is inevitable, obviously you wouldn't see a thing here without electricity.
But why does it look so strange? This high voltage transmission tower has been mangled in a process of aerial photography and AI photogrammetry, transferred to polygonal clusters and finally the object was textured with a warped low-res picture of the real scenery. Besides a subtle increase of contrast and saturation no additional effects are applied.
