Once I've explored and experimented enough, to a point of near abandonment, it's time to distil.

I try to understand what the artwork means to me and I begin hone and refine those ideas. Sometimes this means I simplify, other times it means I add more layers. Whatever I do, I find a new intensity during this process. To distil is to concentrate and I find myself a sharpened tool ready to finish the artwork.
