Kasparov's Immortal Match was a chess match played between Garry Kasparov and Veselin Topalov on January 20, 1999 for the 4th round of category 18 (ELO 2678 or greater) of the 61st Hoogovens Tournament, Wijk aan Zee 1999. Kasparov won the match from a brilliant sacrifice of move 24. The opening used was Defense Pirc (ECO B07). Kasparov called the game "wonderful".
