PRELUDES is a collection of 24 3D dance pieces for Bach's 24 Preludes.

The series was created by mixing the language of dance with animation techniques and 3D simulation. The work was done using 3D physics simulation animation instead of keyframe animation. This allowed exploring the relationship between movement, mathematics and symmetry that Bach provokes. And while movement is a key element of the series, the stills from the pieces are fascinating.

The choice for black-and-white is an allusion to piano keys and a playful counterpoint to the chromaticism. If Bach worked the sound chromaticism by modulating the tonalities to result in 24 preludes for the 24 tones (12 major+12 minor), my objective is to work the choreographic chromaticism with the modulation of the movement parameters that trigger the physical simulation in 3D. Thus, each piece in the collection has its particularity of movement and visuality. However, the pieces together also form a beautiful and impactful choreography.
