This work showcases the future of Africa being grown through women sharing integral parts in leading Africa to an even greater place. Three celestial women stand around a vessel that represents the people of Africa. Each one drops different objects into the vessel: A brain, representing Knowledge, A book, representing the History of Africa and Paint tubes and a brush representing Creativity. Inspired by the walkway of the African Memory Square (Place du Souvenir Africain) in Dakar, Senegal, the figures stand at the edge of the walkway near the sea, where the sculpture showing Africa and the various continental flags would be in reality. This space also houses the Henriette-Bathily Women’s museum which empowers women in the growth of fields such as the visual arts and literature. Therefore, this artwork showcases the culmination of women in Africa pouring in what we need to progress as Africans into the future: The knowledge of the past and present to help us reflect on what has affected us until this point, History from an African perspective to realise our story from an African and non-western lens, and Creativity as our creative heritage is significant in Africa and spaces such as Web 3.0, could be part of what aids in bringing positive change in the continent for the future.
