Cascade Dreamscape

Layer upon layer of untouched mountains in the North Cascades. Ancient glacial bodies cling to the highest slopes of these immovable rocky entities which is what makes this landscape so special.

This was from a serene moment atop the summit of Snowking Mountain where the wind was frigid and seemed to cut straight through my soul, the sunlight cast great shadows amongst the valleys, and the layers revealed their true splendor as the sun rose higher into the sky. I love finding new perspectives of the mountains of Washington, especially if I'm able to capture layers that I have never seen before.

Pearlescent is simplicity at it's core, yet it's very complex in the sense that it's extremely physically demanding to reach this vantage point.

Cascade Dreamscape collection image

A collection of 30 1/1 images captured amongst the rugged mountains of the North Cascades in Washington, by Daniel Fowler. Over 200 miles traveled on foot, over 100,000 feet of elevation gain climbed, almost four years of persevering in the mountains, and well over 150,000 photographs taken...welcome to Cascade Dreamscape.

Throughout my life, I dreamt of going on adventurous expeditions to the farthest reaches of our planet, especially the remote mountains here in the United States. Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of being able to document these fragile environments and have seen first hand just how quickly they are changing due to climate change. These photographs are just brief moments frozen in time that help document the beautiful glaciated landscapes of the North Cascades.
