The Eyes are not windows into the soul, but peripherals to a sophisticated, biological machine. A complex piece of hardware housing processors, logic and memory. When we open our eyes to the realisation that our bodies are not of divine creation and life itself serves no definitive purpose it can be a difficult reality to visualise. To some it may even break them.
