- HADES is my cartoonish interpretation of Hell. Also, it's a self-portrait of my spirit face emerging from my cadaver, worm-eaten, and quite upset at where my spirit ended up after my death! The painting is Tongue-in-cheek, disguising a real fear that my young Catholic peers drummed into my child self. We all wonder what happens when we die. Do we go to Hell for all the bad things? So here is my corpse spirit head surrounded by the devils of Hell, about to be sent down to my appropriate burning rung to suffer with similar offenders!
