「the city of the Tonchiki Boy and the frogs・Kéró Kero」
The bustling marketplace

In its early years, Kéró Kero relied on financial supported from influential people (mainly aristocrats and other wealthy elites) who supported the Kéróls. The opening of Kéró Kero Port was the catalyst for Kéró Kero's financial independence. This port was established to supply merchant ships transporting goods for international trade. However, the revenue generated from these supplies and the harbour fees collected from visiting ships became an important source of income for Kéró Kero. As Kéró Kero was well located as a transit point for international trade routes, the demand for Kéró Kero Port increased over the years, leading to the financial stability of Kéró Kero.

In the 420s, merchants began to conduct direct trading of goods at Kéró Kero Port. During this period, Kéró Kero Port developed from a mere supply port to an international trading port where goods from all over the world were traded. In response to this trend, the Kéró Kero government opened the Kéró Kero Market in 458, establishing more effective management of commercial activities at the port. By the early 460s, the total value of trade transactions at Kéró Kero Port reached the world’s third-highest level, solidifying its position as one of the global leading trading ports.

The rapid changes of Kéró Kero’s economic structure had a significant impact on the daily lives of its citizens. The previous local production and consumption economic structure transformed into a consumer society in just half a century. In 465, the Kéró Kero Second Market opened as a market for the public. This led to a shopping craze among citizens and brought monetary and market economies to the general population. The improved living standards led to an increase in tax revenues, ensuring a stable funding for the government and further enhancing citizen life.

Thus, the development of Kéró Kero Port and the increase in tax revenues were two factors supporting the financial stability of Kéró Kero and became the driving force behind the realization of various social policies. Simultaneously, these foundations also laid the groundwork for Kéró Kero's growth into a global economic powerhouse.
