October 12th, 2001, marks the inauguration of Maria Valeria Bridge. Located on the Danube, on the border between Slovakia and Hungary, it was the last bridge not rebuilt after its demolition during the Second World War. The people there had to struggle and suffer for 57 years to get a connection between the two sides of the river again. This research addresses the issue of identity, exploring the relations and feelings of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia and the relations between Hungarians and Slovaks, through the creation of an art documentary, a performance, and an exhibition. Fading over the Bridge, part of this corpus collects 20 screenshots taken from the interviews and filming carried out on the Maria Valeria Bridge, speaking directly to the value of memory, through the characteristic bewilderment of an absence, at the same time elaborating a reflection on the concept of documentary cinema as the crystallization of a moment, and its eternization.
