TITLE : WO(w)MAN : Story of a Strong Woman behind a Man

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPH :

We all have heard of the proverb “Behind every successful man there is a woman” and thus the title of the image Wo(w)Man celebrating the WOW factor in a WOMAN in terms of strength, resilience, balance, love and other qualities due to which we MEN exist and which makes this world a better place.

The REAL story behind this photograph truly expresses how woman in many parts of the world gives up their wishes to see her man happy.

The Photograph celebrates all the strong women in this world and I believe we men take birth because of the women.

I would like to start the story with a short line
“I am SHE, Who excels the STRENGTH Of his LIGHT”

This photograph was taken in India in a village fair in Rajasthan.

I wanted to photograph the woman and the man together as that would have made the perfect portraiture. I asked them to look at my camera so that I can take the portrait.

What the woman told me, made me take a PAUSE and THINK .

She said in Hindi translated to English – “You please take the photograph of my husband, he has never been photographed. What would you do by taking a photograph of me. My husband will be happy if you take his photograph”.

I asked out of curiosity - " Have you ever been photographed? ".

The reply was - "No, but please take my husband's photograph , its the same thing"

Saying this she moved to the background and I knew I had to freeze this moment.

Though I couldn’t capture her, I wanted to capture her silhouette which as if said to her husband –“I HAVE YOUR BACK in every stage of life."

She truly WOWed me by her gesture of self-sacrifice and putting the man in her life first and thinking about her husband's happiness rather than hers.

This moment really moved me.
