This animated 3D sculpture is in response to the negative reaction- by traditional artists - to the popularity of Cryptoart.

During the early months of 2021 there was a backlash against the cryptoart movement, sparked by an article on the ecological cost of tokenizing NFTs. The article was proven to have exaggerated the impact that most cryptoartists had on the environment, focussing on the most extreme cases. The original text included disrespecftful language and misinformation that insighted online bullying and abuse of many cryptoartists. It seemed that those from minority groups were targetted more than others in this vendetta.

A similar phenomenon happened during the punk movement in the 1970’s where musicians attacked punks for being amateurish & ruining music. This piece refers back to the punk past and looks forward to a future where cryptoartists are able to create art without fear of being bullied.

In this animation my "Pink the Punk" character pogos in defiance at these bullies. Behind her is a brick wall with graffiti scrawled upon it, saying "The NFT and the FURY" in reference to the famous newspaper headline in 1976 that inspired a film by Julien Temple, featuring The Sex Pistols in 2000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Filth_and_the_Fury
